
Trattoria da Leo offers its clientele a good selection of dishes - which rotate on a daily basis during the week - in an effort to create pleasant moments in a friendly atmosphere.
Da Leo
In 1949, in the premises alongside those of the present Trattoria da Leo there was a wine-bar known as “Il Cantinone”. This was later purchased by the Bianchi family of Matraia who step by step transformed it into a hostelry where one could still drink good Lucca wine and also taste our traditional soups. As time went by, Mr Leone Marcello Bianchi, proceeding with his able management, decided to change the name of his business and the most natural choice for him was “Leo”, which was what people had always called him.
In 1974 the hostelry moved into its present premises previously occupied by the offices of a local corn-mill and took on the definitive name of “Trattoria da Leo”.
Simple and friendy as ever, the ‘trattoria’ was−and still is−greatly appreciated by those who, rather than pretentious service, want good home−cooking at a reasonable price.
In June 1980 the Buralli family bought out old Leo and with his help learnt and maintained the secrets of that ancient culinary art that has its origins in the village of Matraia in the hills above Lucca.
